How will Bo fare in his first 100 days in the White House?

A lot of hoopla was unleashed when a Portuguese Water Dog named Bo greeted the press corps on the White House lawn during his first day as First Dog on April 14. The fast-growing pup already has a book about him and more in store as the newest tail-wagger to sniff and romp in the White House.

Will he be sweet or bitey? A quick learner or a repeat-that-command-again canine? His arrival on April 14 is a date shared by these other milestones in history:

  • • 1910 – President William H. Taft begins a commander-in-chief tradition by tossing out the first ceremonial baseball pitch of the season opening game for the Washington Senators.
  • • 1912 – The RMS Titanic hits an iceberg in the North Atlantic and sinks the next day.
  • • 1969 – Katharine Hepburn and Barbra Streisand tie for the Best Actress honors at the Academy Awards.

In honor of his first 100 days at First Dog at the White House, I’ve created this fun Presidential Pup Poll. Will Bo behave:

  • * A. Grrrr-eat – He wows the First Family with his smarts and sweetness.
  • * B. Good – He aces housetraining and basic obedience commands.
  • * C. So-So – He mistakes President Obama’s leather shoe for a chew toy.
  • * D. Uh Oh – He needs a presidential pup pardon for nipping the heels of press photographers.

I encourage you to cast your vote by emailing me at arden@ardenmoore.com. I will select a few names and send autographed copies of my best selling pet books. Mark your calendars for July 23 – that’s the date that marks Bo’s 100th day.

Other milestones in history for July 23:

  • • 1903 – Ford Motor Company sells its first Model A car.
  • • 1965 – The Beatles release “Help!” in the United Kingdom.
  • • 1994 – Longest rain delay in baseball – 3 hours, 39 minutes – concludes with the San Francisco Giants defeating the New York Mets.

Judging from history, will Bo’s 100 days chug right on by without any incidents? Cause the president to issue a presidential pup pardon for doggy misbehavior? Or will Bo hit a home run in the hearts of the First Family and Americans?

Bo, the fate is in your paws!
