It's almost baseball season… And yet our sports teams here are listed as being a factor for why St. Louis is on the “most miserable city” list. Why is that?

I’m not a big sports fan by any means, but I enjoyed the Cardinals games I’ve attended in the past. Sure, I’m more into the hot dogs and popcorn and people watching than the actual game, but overall you’ve got to admit that we’ve got a good ball club here. It has a long and illustrious history. Why would it make life here more “miserable”?

Is it the Rams? Okay, I’m not happy they let Kurt Warner go after their Super Bowl victory, but that’s not reason to be totally down on them, is it?

What about the Blues? I love hockey, but I can’t afford the price of the tickets. Could that be the reason our sports team helped us get onto the most miserable city list?

And don’t forget the SLU Billikens basketball. They’re a big draw as well for sports fans. What’s wrong with having a big school locally with a nationally known team?

What do you think? Good, bad, or indifferent, do our pro and college sports teams add to your enjoyment of life in this fair city?
