The biggest discussion in journalism schools right now across the country can be summed up in the phrase, "The Internet--Baffling!"
While some citizens believe immigrants are taking their jobs, the Internet is defiinitely responsible for taking journalists'. The feel of the thick broadsheet isn't so desired anymore --Especially if a 50 cent edition of small-town banter seems expensive because NYTimes.com is aways free.
The one argument old-school journalists make against Internet sparkle is, "But it doesn't have that newspaper look and feel!" A common "hurrah" in school is, "Print will never die!"
Tabbloid might have initiated the funeral procession.
Basically, it takes the RSS feeds you have subscribed to, arranges them in a print format, e-mails them to you as PDFs, and lets you print like no newspaper has printed before.
This way, you've got the news you want, printed with that "look and feel."
Maybe I'm contributing to my own demise, but, I'm also joyously attending print journalism's funeral.
