Fourth of July fireworks and celebrations in Connecticut

Fourth of July is associated with fireworks, picnics, and town celebrations. Although I do not have every town listed, below is a list of local fireworks and celebrations in Connecticut as well as a link that will provide you with towns I've left out.

  • Branford, CT - Fireworks on 6/27/09 at Branford Point. Rain date: 6/28/09. Shuttle buses will begin service at 5:00pm from Branford High School located at 185 East Main St. For more information visit www.branfordfestival.com/firework.htm
  • East Haven, CT - Fireworks and Beach Party on 6/28/09. The celebration will feature food, music, and live entertainment beginning at noon. Bands include One Way Ticket, Rhapsody, and No Big Deal. Fireworks will begin at 9:00pm. For more information visit www.townofeasthavenct.org/fireworks.shtml
  • Enfield, CT - Town Celebration from 7/10-7/12/09 located at the town green on Route 5. The Independence Day Celebration will feature live entertainment, craft fair, Taste of Enfield, a parade, concerns, children activities, and fireworks on Sunday. The times are Friday 5:00pm-midnight, Saturday from 10:00am-midnight, and Sunday 10:00am-11:00pm. Admission is free.
  • Hartford, CT - Sounds of Liberty will be held on 7/4/09 at the State Capitol located at 210 Capitol Ave beginning at 1:30pm. Admission is free. Replicas of the Liberty bell will ring at 2:00pm around the country in honor of the signers of the Declaration of Independence. The bells will ring 13 times recognizing the 13 colonies.
  • Lyme - Parade and Picnic with free admission on 7/4/09. The parade begins at 11:00am with the picnic following at Cove Road. The event is sponsored by the Reynolds family.
  • Madison, CT - Fireworks will be on 7/3/09 beginning at 9:30pm off of West Wharf Beach. The rain date is 7/10/09. The Independence Day parade will be held on 7/4/09 at 11:00am at 555 Boston Post Road. The parade will run from 11am-1pm. For more information visit www.madisonexchange.org.
  • Middlebury, CT - 3-D Fireworks at Quassy Amusement Park on Route 64. Parking is $7 on this day. The 3-D viewing glasses will be sold for $1 benefiting Prevent Blindness Tri-State.
  • Milford, CT - On 7/3/09 fireworks, a carnival, and bbq will be held on the top level of the green parking dex near cinema de lux at the Westfield Connecticut Post Mall. The address is 1201 Boston Post Road. The event is from 4:00-10:00pm featuring live concerts from The Landsharks. The bbq is $25 for adults and $10 for children 10 and under. The fireworks and carnival are free.
  • Mystic, CT - A parade and ceremonies will be on 7/4/09 located at 75 Greenmanville Ave on Route 27. The times are between 9:00am-5:00pm. For additional information call 860-572-0711.
  • New Britain, CT - On 7/4/09 New Britain will host the Great American Boom. This event will feature live concerts, carnival games, petting zoo, clowns, rides on the pond, and fireworks. Fireworks are at 9:15pm. The cost of the event is $5 and is located at Stanley Quarter Park at 2159 Stanley Street. For more information visit www.new-britain.net/recnpark/
  • New Haven, CT - Fireworks will be located at Long Wharf Park, Canal Dock Road and Long Wharf Drive on 7/4/09. The rain date is 7/5/09. For additional information call 203-946-7172.
  • West Haven, CT - Fireworks will be at West Haven Beach on 7/3/09.
