Colts quarterback Peyton Manning turned 33 this week, and to commemorate the occasion, the NFL Network put together its Top 10 Manning Moments.
It was a good piece, and covered the obvious.
No. 1 was Super Bowl XLI. No. 2 was the AFC Championship Game victory over New England two weeks prior . . .
Quickly, here's the list:
No. 10... First career touchdown pass, September 1998.
No. 9… First career victory, October 1998.
No. 8... First six-touchdown game, at New Orleans, 2003.
No. 7... Playoff victory over Denver at RCA Dome, January 2005.
No. 6... Playoff victory over Denver at RCA Dome, January 2004.
No. 4... Monday Night victory at Tampa Bay, 2003.
No. 3... Breaking Dan Marino's single-season touchdown record at RCA Dome, 2004.
No. 2... AFC Championship Game at RCA Dome, January 2007.
No. 1... Super Bowl XLI in Miami Gardens, Fla., February 2007
A good list and one that got me thinking . . . if those were the obvious, what were the Top 10 best Manning moments maybe a lot of people don't remember? Or don't appreciate as they should? What are the 10 that don't jump out as obvious?
So, not as an answer to the NFL Network's effort, necessarily, but as a complement, here are 10 Manning Moments from 2002-2008, his most recent seven seasons and the ones that catapulted him from a good quarterback to a legend and a certain first-ballot Hall of Fame selection.
We'll start today with No. 10 . . .
