Do it yourselfers, I think its a new word, yes a new word for the lexicon. don't laugh it is probably in the dictionary now. I like alot of you am a do it yourself fix it type, although I used to be in the Home Improvement' field. I too have made simple mistakes and complex ones as well. Basic it yourself types can usually handle small jobs around the house, putting in a new piece of glass after that errant baseball came sailing through the window, or rewiring an electrical wall socket. I have short story about that very thing; Usually when a house is up for sale the owner will do what is called a 'Lipstick Job' ( a quick coat of paint here, fill in a crack there on the house, in my case all wall sockets were painted over. I bought all ones and proceeded to replace them, it took all day and after getting in the last one, I turned on the power and the breaker tripped, I checked the last recepticle and there it was, I wired it backwards. If this says anything, It says 'Pay Attention' while doing the work, it will save you a cut finger or you get to keep all ten. NO Job is too insignificant, any job, no matter how small require your complte attention. There are web sites that can help in the small and the large projects www.DYI.com or www.hgtv.com etc. or, just call your local contracter most will share information, hoping that later you will consult or hire them for bigger projects. I can do a great many projects around my house that most, people would call a contracter for, but I am not so arrogant that I would attempt reshingle my roof without help. Going the 'Do it yourself route' is admirable, but I had thriving business in the 80's just fixing the projects that people started and got in over their heads very quickly. Don't be discouraged though, many many things can be done by the average homeowner and you can save a few bucks. So get out there start small and if you get into some difficulty don't sweat it, the ter are many placed for help. I'll can even help, If there is a meal involved...( I will work for Food) I do have my needs.
