Solar power! Perhaps not just for rich folk anymore....

PRLog (Press Release)Dec 10, 2008 – Boulder County residents recently approved Ballot Measure 1A that allows residential and commercial property owners to receive financing for home improvements in renewable energy.

Lighthouse Solar attended the December 2nd workshop that sought public comment to help define the new ClimateSmart loan program for both residential and commercial properties. The County will initially issue special assessment bonds up to $40 million for residential property owners interested in solar power or other energy efficiency improvements starting as soon as February 2009.

Commercial properties will be assessed in terms of the financial scope necessary for the business sector but commercial properties will not be included in the initial $40 million financing. Since the program is voluntary, residents will not face a countywide tax increase as the loans are paid through individual property taxes.

Lighthouse Solar offers various solar energy technologies eligible for the ClimateSmart Loan Program. Projects that qualify for funds under the district are currently being assessed by the County, along with rules and procedures for the program and will be approved by the Boulder County Commissioners in January 2009. All projects must be approved as per the program guidelines and requirements outlined in the application process. The anticipated start date for the financing application process is February 2009.

Lighthouse Solar provides the highest value and most reliable solar solutions for residential and light commercial customers throughout the Front Range and Rocky Mountain region. Lighthouse Solar is currently the only full service solar company with licensed electrical, plumbing and heating contractors on staff to offer complete energy solutions for both residential and commercial customers interested in solar electric and solar thermal energy systems.

In addition to Ballot Issue 1A, Colorado is widely known for its advancements in renewable energy with Xcel Energy’s Smart Grid program that will make its debut in Boulder. Coupled with Ballot Issue 1A, Boulder is in a position to create green-collar jobs and stimulate the local economy, while at the same time creating a new energy standard both in Colorado and on a national level.
