A piece of good news for the Warriors is that Marco Belinelli is coming back. Might be ready for Wednesday’s game against the Los Angeles Lakers, in fact.
With Andris Biedrins also possibly returning, the Warriors are another step closer to complete health. It’s down to Brandan Wright (shoulder) at this point.
But a full roster also means that somebody _ or a couple of somebodies _ is going to take a minutes hit. Biedrins is likely going to squeeze rookie Anthony Randolph in the frontcourt.
But Belinelli’s return isn’t going to be good for somebody and it’s conceivable Belinelli could be that somebody. Anyway, Warriors coach Don Nelson answered a few questions on the topic a couple of days ago, and acknowledged he didn’t have much of an answer:
Question: When Marco returns, what’s he coming back to?
Don Nelson: “It causes a logjam. It’s a dilemma for the coach. There’s nothing I can do about it. It’s going to happen. When he comes back and there aren’t enough minutes for everyone to play and it’s just where we are. And we have to deal with it.
“I don’t know the answer or the solution. We have to wait and see and talk about it when it happens.”
Question: Is that one of those good problems to have?
Don Nelson: “It’s a good problem if you have an injury. It’s not a good problem when you have everybody healthy. A lot of guys are fairly equal in their abilities and their contributions and so then somebody gets left out. (It’s) Tough for that guy.”
Question: He was handling the ball a little bit more before he went down. Does that help his cause?
Don Nelson: “Yes. I like that part of his game. We knew that coming in when we drafted him that he had that ability: To make some plays. We want him to enhance that ability, and he’s doing that.”
