The Contra Costa Times and SF Gate caught up with Anthony Randolph on Saturday in Minneapolis to talk about his lack of playing time for the Warriors and his lack of a relationship with coach Don Nelson.
Randolph said "you just got to keep working," when asked what he's got to do to get back onto the court. That's all well and good, but this is the quote that was more troublesome ... seemed like there had to be some resignation in Randolph's voice with this:
"Can't do anything about what somebody thinks, I can't control somebody's thoughts," Randolph said. "I just go out there and do what I'm doing. If I get my minutes, I play hard, like I do every game."
To me, the quote above screams out 19-year-old, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. Why? Because Randolph really can do something about what Nelson thinks _ if Randolph really, really wants to. The reality is, he probably doesn't want to.
Marco Belinelli seemed to be able to do something about Nelson's thoughts.
Also, by Randolph saying he'll "just go out there and do what I'm doing," Randolph seems to be saying he's not going to do much changing in the near future.
None of those answers bode well toward a timely and positive solution.

If Nelson gets tossed early from tomorrow night's game at Utah, there will likely be a reason. The NBA is holding its D-League Showcase this week in Orem, Utah, and the Warriors' luck with D-Leaguers has been pretty good:
Kelenna Azubuike, C.J. Watson and DeMarcus Nelson.
All 16 D-League teams play twice each during a four-day period. The Showcase coincides with the Jan. 5 date that NBA can sign players to 10-day contracts.
