It’s very quiet these days at the Warriors’ facility in downtown Oakland, which is typical for this time of year.
Training camp doesn’t begin for six weeks, and even if you plan to show up early, which many young players do, it’s even too soon for that.
The only player working out at 1011 Broadway is DeMarcus Nelson, who has roots in Vallejo, attended Duke and played for the Warriors in the Las Vegas summer league and Rocky Mountain Revue.

Nelson will likely be at training camp, which begins in late September.
♦ Unrelated thought: Maybe NBA commissioner David Stern has had enough of foreign players in the league, and wants to begin discouraging others from coming.
Well, if the league is serious about cracking down on flopping _ and issuing fines and suspensions, in the process _ it’s certainly going to hit foreign players the hardest.

Anderson Varejao, Andres Nocioni, Manu Ginobili, Luis Scola, Jorge Garbajosa (not that he’s in league anymore), Eduardo Najera, all of them are terrific floppers and compromisers of the game.
In the interest of fairness, there are plenty of American-born floppers (Derek Fisher, Shane Battier, Mike Dunleavy), but I say you can’t punish them enough _ no matter where they come from.
