Warriors coach Don Nelson went down to Bakersfield on Thursday to see DeMarcus Nelson and Richard Hendrix play.
Both of those players are Warriors assigned to the D-League. Nelson had 16 points and six assists and Hendrix had 18 points and 11 rebounds in the Jam’s 107-98 win.
Bakersfield leads its division at 6-1.
Apparently, Don Nelson isn't that impressed.
When asked how Nelson and Hendrix played, Nelson replied: “OK … OK … They had decent numbers.”
Nelson said he likes that DeMarcus Nelson is remaking his jump shot, although cautioned that it will be a long time before the work pays off.
“I think that’s a good step he’s taken,” Don Nelson said. “It is a little bit better. He’s got a lot of work to do and we don’t really expect it to take care of itself for at least a year.
“He’s shooting a lot; he understands what he needs to do and he’s attempting to do it. In the heat of the game it reverts back a little bit but we expect that.”
Nelson had a far more sobering assessment of Hendrix and his performance. When Nelson was asked if DeMarcus Nelson and Hendrix were eventually NBA players, he responded:
“DeMarcus, I’d say yes,” Nelson said. “I think the school is still out on Hendrix. He’s got a lot of work to do. As far as the body and rebounding, he’s got two things going for him.
“But he’s got to learn a lot of other stuff.”

Nelson said Corey Maggette is doubtful for tonight’s game against the Rockets because of a strained right hamstring.
Ronny Turiaf wasn’t at shoot-around because of flu-like symptoms. He is questionable for tonight’s game.
Brandan Wright, who had the flu and missed Wednesday's game against Milwaukee, was at shootaround and is available tonight.
