This item from the New York Post ...
Knicks president Donnie Walsh was at the Garden for the Jimmy V Classic on Monday night, undoubtedly taking in lottery candidate Stephen Curry.
"Warrior GM Chris Mullin, expected to be fired in Golden State, and Walsh were under the same roof. Sources indicate Walsh could hire Mullin this offseason to be his right-hand man.
The seven words within the commas ... "expected to be fired in Golden State" caught my eye.
Here's why:
There is no way Chris Mullin gets fired by the Warriors.
Actually, allow me one small caveat: There's no way Mullin gets fired by the Warriors unless he commits some kind of egregious act of insubordination that, quite frankly, would be completely un-Mullin-like.
Parting ways at the end of the season is likely how it's all going to happen.
The bottom line is the Warriors don't want to fire Mullin, and they're not going to.
If you need some kind of sourcing on that, well, I've heard that more than once in the past few weeks, and by people who would be in on such a decision.
And I probably heard it from those powers-that-be because about six weeks ago I thought Mullin was more likely to get fired than last the season, too.
I was told that's not the case.
Mullin's contract expires at the end of the season, and both sides are likely to honor that contract.
An outside job offer _ say from the Knicks _ obviously could impact that status quo, but in the meantime Mullin isn't going anywhere.
In fact, while it remains unlikely, the door is still slightly ajar for Mullin's return. It would probably entail some kind of change in responsibility, job description and/or title.
Mullin hasn't been around Oakland much these days and has spent much of the past month on the road, scouting college games.
Assistant general manager Larry Riley is apparently making most of team's calls regarding personnel.

By the way, now that you've heard about Diplomat basketball, you'll be happy to know F&M ran its record to 7-0 last night.
That pushed Glenn Robinson's career mark to 738-284.
