I saw this item on Warriors point guard Marcus Williams wanting out of Golden State in Sunday's Boston Globe.
Here's the crux of it:
Williams' agent, Bill Duffy, said he asked the Warriors to trade his client.
"It appeared to be an ideal fit for him over the summer after Baron Davis's absence," Duffy said. "Marcus has not had sustained opportunities. It's not his intention to leave, but it's important that he plays."
Reaction?
OK, fair enough. But what are you really going to get for Williams?
And I'm not ready to close the book entirely on this one, either, terms of Williams and the Warriors.
But it's going to mean Williams has to take things more seriously and coach Don Nelson stops looking for ways to penalize the kid.
Even those infrequent times when Nelson has used Williams ... Williams has been ineffectual and failed to distinguish himself in any way.
Guy's got two points all year.
Even if Nellie isn't doing Williams any favors, Williams isn't exactly going to get the benefit of the doubt around the league now it terms of fetching prices and trades.
OK, we can understand Williams not thriving under Lawrence Frank. But to not even be able to get onto the court for Nelson?
Guess what I'm saying is there's probably not a buzz among GMs around the league now that Williams has come available.
Besides, the place Williams can still be most useful is here.

Happy birthday to Oscar Robertson, who turns 70 today. Former Warrior Rick Barry called Robertson the most overlooked athlete in sports history.
