I'm posting this from CBSsports.com, if for no other reason than it has the most recent quote that I've seen from Warriors executive vice president of basketball operations Chris Mullin on his future:
Ken Berger: CBS sportsline.com.
...
From downtown ... on a Monday night:
♦ When they erect the statue of Chicago's Andres Nocioni in his hometown of Santa Fe, Argentina, down the line it is likely to have its arms be extended, mouth agape, begging for a foul from the officials.
♦ Saw a headline on NBA.com that read: Bocats bolster frontcourt by signing Dwayne Jones. ... and I thought, "really?"
♦ The Heat may have gone down to the Rockets on Monday night (hey, not even Dwyane Wade can match Yao's consistency), but rookie Michael Beasley looked very good, taking the clever Luis Scola to school on more than one occasion.
By the way, Rockets are off to a great start ... 7-3 on the road already.
♦ Keep an eye on Chicago Bulls coach Vinny Del Negro's nice head of hair.
The first-year coach _ on any level _ is itchy, antsy and animated. Lots of stress with each possession.
He's either going to start losing what he's got or it's going to start going gray in a hurry.
♦ Terrific finish in that Chicago-Utah finish, with Larry Hughes grabbing a stray rebound off a Derrick Rose miss and knocking home a game-winner at the buzzer.
But make no mistake, Rose was the hero of that game, doing pretty much to the Jazz down the stretch what he did to the Warriors down the stretch a week or so ago.
Ron Boone, the Jazz analyst, may have hit the nail on the head when he said Rose might have the quickest first step in the game.
♦ There's not a lot of good going on in L. A. for the Clippers these days _ they fell to the Hornets on Monday to drop to 2-12 _ but there was one good thing in their loss:
Rookie Eric Gordon.
Forget Al Thornton or even Chris Kaman. Gordon is more of a keeper than those two.
