CONT.
Cohan has given a lot of money to a lot of players over the years. Almost all of them are gone now.
But none of those guys -- even AFTER getting paid -- has been as enthusiastic and positive about the Warriors’ organization as Jackson has been BEFORE signing his deal.
Jackson’s on-court resume holds weight in the Warriors’ front office, too.
For a team a ways from consistently winning, Jackson’s championship ring gives him credentials.
And it didn’t hurt his leverage one iota last year when the Warriors lost their first six games when he was serving his NBA suspension.
And yes, he is, relatively speaking, underpaid.
Nevertheless … despite all this I still wouldn’t extend Jackson.
But after practice Monday, I can see why the Warriors would.
