Vietnam is currently second in the world (second to Brazil) for coffee exports. With that amount of coffee coming from that region, the quantity of coffee available here is staggering. This particular coffee is imported by the Central Highlands Coffee Co. of La Jolla, CA. It is simply labeled as Premium Ground Coffee.
Before brewing, the pre-ground coffee puts off a nutty, dark aroma. It has a medium to dark roast. The grind was done fairly uniformly.
After brewing, the hue is black. The nutty, dark aroma continues into the brewed coffee. This coffee has a medium body. The taste can only be justifiably described as coffee. This description refers to it tasting like an old fashioned cup of coffee that brings forth memories of coffee from an old-fashioned donut shop or church potluck. There are no bells and whistles with this taste. It is simply an old-fashioned Cup of Joe. The aftertaste is more of the same.
This coffee is a great coffee in its own right. The memories that it brings back are compelling. This taste has been purged from modern coffee and its return in this coffee is refreshing. The best description for this coffee is to say; “When I was your age, this is how coffee tasted.”
