Must Love Dogs

My dog, Butters, was not surprised to hear how awesome Colorado dog owners are.
 
We're #1! We're #1 - Give us your tired, your poor, your Pekingese yearning to be free because when it comes to dogs, Colorado Springs is Ellis Island. The Springs was named The (yes, the with a capital T) Best City for Dogs by Men's Health Magazine earlier this year and now comes the city's latest honor, being named Dog-Town USA by Dog Fancy Magazine.  

Not that any of this should come as a surprise. It seems like everyone in this state owns a dog. In fact, I think everyone is issued a dog when they move to Colorado. Just like everyone was issued a copy of Framptom Comes Alive back in the 70's.

What makes Colorado Springs so dog friendly? Plenty of services and supplies for pets, high vet-to-dog ratios and abundant dog parks and open spaces. Take that runners up Huntington Beach, CA, Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, Briarcliff Manor, NY and Long Beach, CA!

The story runs in the September issue of Dog Fancy, which hits the streets next Tuesday.
