Since this is a slow time for the football world, with training camp still a month away, I thought that we could do something fun over the next few weeks. Over the next couple of weeks we are going to select the All-Time All St. Louis football team.
This is a project I have wanted to do for awhile and now I finally have the chance to do this for examiner.com. I have made the list of who I believe should be the starters and backups for the All-time All St. Louis football team but I can be persuaded on a few positions. I will release who I believe are the starters and backups and then open it up for debate. We will then announce the official roster and who should coach the team shortly before training camp.
Here are the ground rules. Everyone who has ever played or coached for the St. Louis Rams and St. Louis Cardinals are eligible. The players that will be on the team are players that made their biggest impact while in a St. Louis uniform. For example Hall of Famer Jackie Slater is eligible because he did play for St. Louis for one game but clearly he did not make a huge impact as a St. Louis player so Slater will not qualify for this team. Jerome Bettis is another example great player just not while in St. Louis.
Starting Monday will we begin on the offensive side of the ball with quarterbacks. Here is the schedule for next week....
Monday: Quarterbacks
Tuesday: Running Backs
Wednesday: Wide Receivers
Thursday: Tight Ends
Friday: Offensive Line
I think this is going to be a lot of fun and I hope you enjoy taking a walk down memory lane with some of the great players in St. Louis football history.
