Sarah Palin

Half baked in Alaska, Sarah Palins gone fishin' for some explanation for her bizarre resignation as Goverrnor of Alaska. Her resignation has been called incoherent, rambling, and bizarre, and, according to Maureen Dowd, the Chaucer of the New York Times, "Caribou Barbie is one nutty puppy." Indeed, the former Governor's surprising announcement has left the chattering class chattering.

Why did Palin resign? John Fund of The Wall Street Journal tries to paint a sympathetic portrait of Palin, claiming Palin suffered a "Death by a thousand FOIAs" (Freedom of Information Act requests). It seems Palin was forced to resign because Alaska's transparency laws allow anyone to file Freedom of Information Act requests. While normally useful, in the hands of political opponents FOIA requests can become a means to bog down a target in a bureaucratic quagmire.

Oh dear! The horror! A bureaucratic quagmire? What is one to do?

Looks like Caribou Barbie, one time Pageant Princess turned Pit Bull in Lipstick and Republican attack dog, is actually a sensitive flower that simply can't handle the hard legislative slog of state legislation, the bureaucratic quagmire of being Governor. The poor thing - how she has suffered!

Palin is frustrated and wants to do something fun. She is not up to the hard work of governing.

Palin's resignation demonstrates that when it gets tough, or boring, or too bureaucratic, she will turn tail and run. Be it laziness, cowardice, ignorance or lack of sufficient attention span, Palin has revealed her true colors, she is a quitter.

Palin is making a case that Alaska is better served if she doesn't remain governor. It follows that the US will be better served if Palin never became president.
