According to a story in the Kalamazoo Gazette, Kalamazoo County government has saved over $900,000 on its healthcare plan, not but cutting benefits or increasing employee contributions, but by spending more on prevention and wellness programs (http://www.mlive.com/news/kalamazoo/index.ssf/2009/05/wellness_program_saves_kalamaz.html).

This program illustrates one of the principals in the Obama healthcare agenda... that prevention can generate considerable savings by keeping people healthier.

It also illustrates  that healthcare reform is already happening in thousands of places across the country without any prompting from Washington.
