As the U.S. televising network of the 2010 Winter Olympics, NBC has been promoting Vonn, 25, as a promising Olympic star since she appeared on NBC's "Today" show in March.
Vonn to appear in one-minute spot
On Wednesday, Nov. 4, the date 100 days from the Feb. 12 Olympics opening ceremony, NBC Universal will launch its "Countdown to Vancouver" campaign. In the 8 p.m. ET hour on Nov. 4, a "Countdown to Vancouver" one-minute Winter Olympics spot will be shown on NBC and other NBC-owned networks such as CNBC and MSNBC. The promo features Vonn, speedskater Apolo Ohno, snowboarders Shaun White and Gretchen Bleiler, and the ice-dancing pair of Tanith Belbin and Ben Agosto.
Vonn starts season with 9th-place finish
In the opening giant slalom race of the season in Soelden, Austria, Vonn finished ninth, matching her performance there a year earlier. She plans to train in Vail, Colo., where she recently moved as part of a sponsorship deal with Vail Resorts, then travel to Levi, Finland, for her second World Cup event, a slalom race on Nov. 14.

Later in November, Vonn can stay in her home state for her only World Cup appearances in her home country, World Cup giant slalom and slalom races, Nov. 28-29, in Aspen, Colo.
Vonn seeks first Olympic medal
Vonn will be competing in her third Olympics in Vancouver. In 2006, she raced after a crash in a training run to an eighth-place finish in the downhill. She was also seventh in the Super G. In 2002, Vonn finished sixth in the combined and 32nd in the slalom.

Particularly based on her remarkable World Cup results from the past two seasons, Vonn is a heavy favorite to leave Vancouver with one or more alpine skiing medals. She is already the only American woman to win two overall World Cup titles.
