The Orioles start a 3 game home stand tonight against the Blue Jays, their last action before next week's All Star break. Dave Trembley, however, will only manage one of those games.
According to MASN's Roch Kubatko, skipper Dave Trembley is suspended for Friday and Saturday's games because of his actions following an ejection from the Orioles vs. Mariners matchup Tuesday night.
The original ejection resulted from Trembley arguing with umpires regarded a fairly obscure MLB rule. Trembley thought Nolan Reimold should have been awarded a trip home after a Mariners throwing error landed in the stands. The umpire only awarded him 3rd base. The rule was complicated enough to fool Orioles announcer Jim Palmer as well as Trembley.
Apparently, Trembley's suspension is based on his admission that he continued managing the game from the dugout tunnel after the ejection.
As a result, he will have to watch tonight and tomorrow's game from afar, though he'll surely be in touch with bench coach and acting manager Dave Jauss via text message.
Whispering from a tunnel. Not allowed. Texting. Totally permissable.
Got that?
