Going to the Yard this weekend?

October 9, 11:43 PM

The Baltimore Running Festival will be held at Camden Yards Saturday morning beginning at 8 a.m.  Thus far, festival planners have not had to worry about Orioles playoff scheduling conflicts.

How do you think scheduling for the marathon goes every year?

“Do you think we’ll have to worry about scheduling issues if the Orioles are in the playoffs?”

[Pause]

“HAHAHAHAHA!  Just kidding!  October 11 it is!”

Festival running events include a 5k, relay race, half marathon, and full marathon.  For a map of the marathon route, click here.

For a complete list of street closings, click here.

Distance running may not be the most popular spectator sport, but if you are near the race route, take a moment to cheer on all of the self-flagellating runners.  If you are stuck at a closed road, you may want to cancel your plans.

Baltimore really seems to come together for this event, as residents of every neighborhood line the race route, giving water, bananas, gummy bears, and high fives to passing competitors.

The Camden Yards and M&T Parking lots will be busy with food, drink, and music.   With temperatures expected to reach the 70s, it may be a perfect day for a rare October trip to the Yard.

Phoning It In
My appearance on The Anita Marks Show on Wednesday has not yet been made available via podcast, but when it does, I will post it.

I actually enjoyed the conversation I had with Anita’s cohosts Jeremy Conn and Mark Zinno. Sure, they called me an @$$clown, but it wasn’t the first nor will it be the last time.  I’ve been called worse--recently.

I learned something important on Wednesday.   Apparently, people don’t like it when you call for their firing.  Who knew?  I guess even a couple of schlubs like Mark and Jeremy have families to support.  I will work on not being quite so inflammatory and personal in my future diatribes.

Except when it comes to Ramon Hernandez.  He is a fat, club-footed, overpaid, embarrassing bum of a major league catcher.
