It's two months away, but not too early to get your tickets for Guest Chef on the Waterfront. With great food, excellent beer and wine pours, delicious jazz, music, games, and sunset at Pier 66, this annual event sells out, so make your plans now.

Best of all, the event benefits FareStart’s culinary job training and placement program. FareStart, you'll recall, offers Thursday Guest Chef Nights that are extremely popular, featuring three-course meals from some of Seattle's best chefs (who work with FareStart students to prepare the meals) for $24.95.

But for the July 15 event, don't let the singular "chef" fool you; there will be more than 70 of Seattle's finest on hand preparing samples of their food. If you think that's a lot to eat, you're right. And just imagine being a judge of all that food, having to choose the best appetizer, best entrée, best dessert, and best overall dishes of the night. It's a tough task, but I'll be back at it for a second straight year, looking forward to the likes of Canlis' Jason Franey competing with Chester Gerl of Matt's in the Market, Jeremy McLachlan of Salty's on Alki (holding a wild salmon and Pinot noir dinner next week), Peter Levine of Waterfront Seafood Grill (winner of last year's overall best dish), and many more.
