NOTE: This event has moved to Monsoon's Capitol Hill location.

Yesterday, I wrote about the massive amount of emails I get from restaurants promoting their menus, and gave my top pick for St. Patrick's Day fare.

Today, I'm pleased to pass on a menu that's got me head over heels over its use of head.

Monsoon East will be offering a tongue-in-cheek menu for one day only. While many pass on these perfectly wonderful parts of the body, those familiar with southeast Asian cuisine know that the Vietnamese value tongue and cheek as treasured ingredients with rich flavor profiles. Monsoon East's special menu for the day looks fabulous, featuring beef and lamb tongue along with salmon, halibut, pork, veal and beef cheeks. The seven-course menu ($75 per person, excluding tax and gratuity) will includ pairings from female winemakers: Lynn Penner-Ash from Penner Ash Wine Cellar, Kay Simon from Chinook Yakima Valley Wines and Veronique Drouhin from Domaine Drouhin.

The menu:

Seared Beef Tongue with Kaffir Lime, Ponzu, Red Radish and Chili Oil

Canh Chua (Salmon Collar Tamarind Soup with Tomato, Ngo Om and Bean Sprouts)

Seared Halibut Cheeks with Turmeric, Dill, Vermicelli, Carrot and Peanut Foam

Lamb Tongue Salad with Jellyfish Ceviche and Ginger

Braised Veal Cheek with Sweet Soy, Celeriac Puree and Green Apple Salad

Braised Beef Cheek in Vietnamese Stew with French Baguette

Rhubarb Panna Cotta with Szechuan Peppercorn and Red Wine Syrup

This is the type of menu I dream about - but don't just dream, as tickets are limited, with two seatings (5:45 and 8 p.m.) on April 1 only. Call 425-635-1112 for more information or reservations.
