Happy anniversary, Monsoon!

While the Banhs are celebrating the success of their new Bellevue restaurant (Monsoon East), they're also commemorating the occasion of opening their Capitol Hill location ten years ago today: February 21, 1999. And you're invited to the party!

Head on over to Monsoon (Capitol Hill location only) tomorrow (Sunday, 2/22) between 5pm and 10pm, and you can enjoy one of ten of their most popular dishes for just $10 - and that will include a glass of wine and a piece of their signature banana cake. There's a limit of one item at $10 per person, so you'll need to choose wisely from:

  • Bo La Lot
  • Grilled Monterey Squid Stuffed with Duck and Shiitake
  • Caramelized Catfish Claypot
  • Crispy Drunken Chicken
  • Barbecued Spare Ribs
  • Wokked Spicy Green Beans with Hon Shimeji
  • Imperial Rolls
  • Oxtail Pho, with Wagyu Flank Steak
  • Duck Egg Soft Noodles
  • Lacquered Kurobuta Pork Belly
As it's Oscar night, I'd recommend wrestling with the lacquered Kurobuta (Mickey) pork belly. Okay, that's silly, but what's not is wondering when to go. There are no reservations; it's first come, first served. As Monsoon madness coincides with the Academy Award broadcast, you might have luck going right at the 5:00 opening. Get in, and you're guaranteed to be a winner.
