The red carpet. The couture gowns. The excitement building up to "the envelope please." Who doesn't love a good awards program?
That's why the 2009 American Institute of Architects San Francisco (AIASF) Design Awards is followed every year by design lovers in the Bay Area. OK, it doesn't exactly have the glamour and glitz of the Academy Awards, but it's every bit as fun and there's some great architecture to be seen.
This year the awards jury was led by Stanley Tigerman, co-founder of the famous Chicago Seven school of architects. I would expect some surprises in this year's awards.
The entire gala affair happens on Thursday night (March 5) at the SF Design Center. Look out for the paparazzi.
