It wouldn't be Father's Day in a pop culture junkie's world if there wasn't a Top Five list of TV's best dads. In honor of Dad's special day, here are some of the best TV has to offer:
1. Mike Brady, "The Brady Bunch." Mr. Brady was a straight-edge as they come. There was never a problem too big. Literally. He never had to deal with his kids' drug habits or pregnancies, but he sure knew how to handle stuff like who gets the room in the attic. And he was a mean potato-sack racer.
2. Dan Conner, "Roseanne." Dan makes the list because he was the more realistic dad. He was always losing his job and he yelled at his children. But in the end he was just a big Teddy bear.
3. Harry Morgan, "Dexter." He might just be the most supportive dad in TV history. Come on, he taught his sociopath son how to pretend he's the opposite. He knew young Dexter's taste for blood had no cure, so he taught him who to kill and how to not get caught. Talk about unconditional love.
4. Jack Arnold, "The Wonder Years." Kevin's dad wasn't the nicest of TV dads, but he was one many kids could relate to. Face it, some dads are just scary. Jack always had his family's best interest in mind, but his delivery was often a little off. But give him a break, it was the 1960s and Prozac wasn't invented yet.
5. Philip Drummond, "Diff'rent Strokes." Mr. Drummond gave Park Avenue Millionaires a much better name when he adopted his late housekeeper's Harlem sons. And he loved them like his own. At a time when race barriers were still an issue on TV, Mr. Drummond's fatherhood was groundbreaking.
