There is a certain comraderie between celebrities. In some instances, this relationship does not extend outside the realm of professionalism, but in others, a single thread of friendship remains throughout those individuals lives from that moment onward. Such is the case with Britney Spears and the late Michael Jackson.
When Spears learned of the king of pop's sudden passing she was "devestated." In a statement released to the press, Spears referred to Jackson as an "inspiration throughout [her] entire life."
The two engaged in a professional relationship in 2001 when Spears performed at the singer's 30th anniversary concert at Madison Square Garden. It is rumored that the two remained close in the years following, and that Jackson even called the troubled singer in 2008 and warned her to focus on her family rather than her career.
Below is the video from the aforementioned concert.
Rest in peace, Michael.
