Decked out as saints, religious, soldiers of the light, and prayer warriors, Catholics are donning rosaries, and standing together in Christian unity and truth this Halloween. Yet those are not holiday costumes. It is come as you are and be present to participate in nationwide prayer in over 200 cities across America to bring an end to abortion in our country. Canada and Denmark are also taking part in this historical event.
Denver area Catholic communities are taking part in 40 days for life, that runs throughout October, ending 11/1/09. This is a focused pro-life effort that consists of 40 days of fasting and prayer, 40 days of peaceful vigil, and 40 days of community outreach. If you haven't done any of these things yet, what a wonderful witness you can be on that day that most people consider a special day for the kids. This is how best to turn that idea into a reality.
Boulder and Colorado Springs are the Colorado locations that are listed as participating, however, other locations may be closer for your family to be able to be present at to pray. Boulder Abortion Clinic is located at 1130 Alpine Avenue, on the south side of Alpine, in Boulder. Be aware of Colorado's bubble law which you can read here, along with additional information on the awesome 40 Days for Life vigil: http://www.40daysforlife.com/boulder/
Over 2000 documented babies have been saved since the first 40 Days For Life campaign in 2004 reported Lifesitenews.com (10/29/09) http://www.lifesitenews.com/ldn/2009/oct/09102902.html To view additional images of precious preborn human beings like the one in the photo above, check out this link http://www.priestsforlife.org/resources/abortionimages/fetaldevelopment.htm Here is an excellent article to defend the lives of the preborn, including a rebuttal to the deceptive prenatal brain waves argument: http://www.themediareport.com/special/margaret-sykes.htm
Allow me to add that the lives of those mothers have also been saved in more ways than one. The souls of mothers are every bit as valuable to God as the precious lives of their babies are. Your prayerful presence at an abortion clinic adds the weighty visual positive to the confusing and negative thoughts that conflicted women wrestle with when faced with an unplanned pregnancy. Being there for them is much more important than you may think.
You don't have to be Catholic to participate, so come on out and be a blessing to someone!
