The public battle between candid preacher, Rev. Dr. David Thompson and the Westminster Presbyterian Church has ended. In August, Thompson not only resigned as Westminster's pastor, but also resigned his membership from the Presbyterian Church USA  after being barred from preaching at other Presbyterian churches until June 2010.

Troubles began for Thompson last January, after leaders of the local Presbyterian denomination placed him under investigation. By May, he was placed on administrative leave. Until recently, there was a mystery surrounding the reasons why Thompson was in so much trouble with presbytery leadership. During the investigation, laity, Thompson and the presbytery alike would not comment.

Ted Cox's article, Thompson don't preach, published in today's Sacramento News and Review, sheds new light on the controversy, and what happens next for Thompson and the Westminster congregation.
