Journalist and author Amy Goodman, host of the independent radio, television and internet news program Democracy Now!, has just been added to line-up of authors who will be speaking at The Free Library of Philadelphia this Fall 2009. Goodman will be talking about her new book, Breaking the Sound Barrier.

Through her reporting, we hear from people who scarcely exist in news covered by the corporate-owned press. We learn about issues of war and peace and social wrong. She is impervious to government subterfuge or spin,"

writes Bill Moyers in his introduction to Goodman's book.

The author talk and book-signing is scheduled for December 1 at noon. The event is free.

Note: Filmmaker Ken Burns was also recently added to the Free Library's Fall line-up. He will be speaking about The National Parks: America's Best Idea book and film on 10/23 at noon.
