Artists from across the country donate 5"x7" works of art every year for The Soap Factory's $99 Sale. Hung anonymously, these works sell for $99 each, and the proceeds go directly to Soap Factory programs.
Created in 1988, The Soap Factory was among the first Minneapolis galleries to feature emerging visual art and installation. Located in a raw and historic 48,000 square foot factory near the riverfront, the Soap Factory is the one of the largest exhibition spaces in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area and holds national recognition as well. It provides a dynamic space for installation, performance, film, sculpture, music, and video.
Each year, the Soap Factory gathers hundreds of small works and puts on a gala event to raise funds for their organization. This year's event fundraiser will kick off with music, beverages, and food on the evening of September 11 from 7-10pm. Tickets are $20 and will definitely sell out, so get them at www.soap99.com.
The Soap Factory will be open with free admission on the following morning of September 12th from 9am-noon to sell all remaining works at the same price.
If you are an artist and would like to donate a piece to be sold, create something on a 5"x7" 2-dimensional surface that can be hung with clips. Sign your name on the back only (not on the front), along with any contact information you'd like to share with the purchaser. Drop in an envelope and put your masterpiece in the silver mailbox on the Soap Factory's front porch.
The Soap Factory is located at: 518 Second Street SE, Minneapolis, www.SoapFactory.org
