The second production of the summer is Friel's "Faith Healer," which runs July 31 through Aug. 17, also in the Pigott Theater. The play, which was revived on Broadway in 2006 starring Ralph Fiennes, is the story of series of Frank Hardy, the title character, as seen from the perspective of four different characters (living and dead).
Tickets are $15-$20. E-mail sst@stanford.edu for information.
Also part of the festival is a film series on Monday nights through Aug. 18. The movies are free and begin at 7 p.m. in Cubberley Auditorium, Lasuen Mall, on the Stanford campus.

Friel, who turns 80 next January and celebrates his 50th year as a published playwright, served on the Irish Seante between 1987 and 1989. Today he livs in a small village in the north of County Donegal.
