Speed Stix knitting needles, and my seven hour sweater.

Hi.  It’s me.  How are you?  Enjoying the weather?  That’s good. Umm… I have a confession to make.  Just a little one, no biggie.  Yeah, so… I don’t really love to knit.  OK, OK, so I know what you are thinking! I’m the Washington DC Knitting Examiner, for cryin' out loud!!  But here’s the thing (don’t worry, there’s a thing!)… I actually knit quite well and I even enjoy myself, I just don’t always (OK, ever) finish.  And not finishing ruins my love of the craft.  It's just that knitting takes forever-- and forever is a long time.  Besides, why spend an eternity knitting a blanket when I can crochet, or machine quilt one in much less then a lifetime?-- beats the heck out of me!  Even still, every so often I have this craving to knit— kind of like when normal people crave cheese burgers.  So yesterday, having such a craving, I began to look for a new knitting project.  This time however, instead of my normal lone mitten or friendless-sock I decided to take a more practical approach.  I decided: I need speed.  I need to knit faster than fast-- faster then a speeding bullet; then a bolt of lightening; then a… um… other type of fast moving object.

And so began my quest to achieve supersonic knitting speeds.  My mission: I need to find a tool that will increase my knitting speed to the point where I can finish something before my knitting-attention-span expires <mad scientist laugh> And then!-- There they were, looking up at me from the fringes of the knitting aisle at AC Moore: a set of very odd, very obese knitting needles which could easily impersonate two baseball bats.  They are called: Speed Stixs by Lion Brand.  These behamouth knitting needles (US size 50) have such a large diameter that they claim you can finish a sweater in seven hours (click here for pattern!).  Now that's what I'm talkin' about....

Ladies and gentlemen: start your engines!
