Making its way into the viral food chain is a video piece produced by ESPN about the Trojans.
We've all heard about coach Pete Caroll's loose style. The Trojan practices are open affairs with fans both civilian and Hollywood royalty showing up.
And every year or so, Carroll cooks up a prank worthy of MTV's "Punk'd" which usually includes a performance by an actor or comedian as part of the gimmick.
Our USC Trojans Examiner, Neil Leitereg wrote last month about the players turning the tables on Pete Carroll. He vowed to retaliate. You can read that, here.
And now we have the "Lean On Me" joke. Carroll enlisted the help of the song's writer and the man who made it famous, singer Bill Withers.
"Lean On Me" had been sung by a rookie on the team as part of a ritual talent show during pre-season. It was a big hit and Carroll contacted Withers to see if he'd come and hang out with the team. It was Withers' idea to make it into a prank.
