The ESPN video-lifestyle piece featuring Lamar Odom and his love of candy has now become the basis for a diagnosis by a medical doctor.
Mike Penner of the Los Angeles Times, wrote today about Dr. Daniel Amen's essay identifying a sugar fixation as being at the root of Odom's inability to make good decisions on the court among other things.
In a boost to the credibility of parents everywhere who limit their kids' sugar intake, Dr. Amen gets down and dirty about Lamar's problem. The video (watch it below) makes it plain that this isn't a slight indulgence.
We are shown Odom's personal assistant shopping for his boss' favorites so that he has plenty in the locker room, his car and his home. Lamar goes so far as to admit that he wakes in the middle of the night, grabs a handful of treats and falls back to sleep.
Amen admonishes the Lakers for not paying more attention to this unsettling situation and believes that if he can get it under control we'll all see a player who has solved the mystery of his up and down court behavior.
