Sports talk radio shows around the country today tried to gauge fan reaction to news about Brett Favre. But it wasn't only about whether or not he should play again. Most of the talk was about whether fans are fed up with reading and hearing about the saga.
"Favre Fatigue" has reached heights not seen since last year at this time. And although fans say they're sick of news about a possible return to the league in the uniform of the Minnesota Vikings, they still call in or have their say on line.
Polls are mixed on whether fans want him to come back but it is clear from the disgust on the phone they are sick of the media coverage. Since that's true I'll keep it short.
The theme song for this yearly ridiculousness with Favre could be any of the following:
The Clash: Should I Stay or Should I Go? (Favre's favorite)
Fleetwood Mac: Say You Love Me. (Favre's secret need is revealed)
Dolly Parton: Here You Come Again. (Vikings' theme song)
Backstreet Boys: Quit Playing Games With my Heart. (NFL fans who want him back)
I'm sure you have your own suggestions. Let me know and keep it clean if you can.
But seriously folks this yearly saga has gotten old except for those true believers that think he can still play at a high level. And why they think he's better this year rather than last is a mystery to me. His arm is injured, he won't get surgery, he hasn't practiced, he reportedly won't go to mini-camps and on top of all that, he's almost 40 years old.
Here's my pick for a song I'd sing at Favre from a karaoke bar microphone: Roy Orbison, It's Over . Listen and enjoy
