Was it good for you? I know it wasn't for me. After one season, the Adam Jones experiment has fizzled in Dallas. The team announced its intention to release him in February, the first date it can do so.

Wouldn't you love to know how much the defensive back and special teams player cost Cowboys' owner Jerry Jones in non-contract costs?

There were the legal reviews of his situation. Then we learned about the round-the-clock body guards and there was that broken mirror in the men's room of a local hotel.

But Jerry Jones never blinked when forced or asked to spend money to build a winner. Adam Jones wasn't a winner. He was a flame-out on special teams and his season is remembered more for a costly penalty and a fumble

Can his pal, Terrell Owens be far behind? According to ESPN's Ed Werder, Jones sat down with his coaching staff to evaluate all members of the team's roster. Apparently there was a cost-benefit analysis done.

There is a lurking $3 million bonus to be paid to Owens in June and perhaps guaranteed money as well. But if you look at Owens' utility to the team this year, you are forced to say that he and his nemesis, Jason Witten are the two mainstays of the receiving corps.

That doesn't mean he deserves to stay another year, especially if the team looks long and hard at his behavior and how it affected their QB, Tony Romo. They certainly have other choices they can make that would give them the same number of TD's and yardage.

But for now, I think I should alert all strip clubs in the geographic area within which Adam Jones resides. Without body guards and a team to report to, it might be raining very soon in their vicinity.

Sports Examiner, Tom Ferda has an update with new facts about why the Cowboys acted right now.
