You have got to listen to the song making its way through the Internet today. Matt Leinart is still a hot topic here in Southern California.
We hate to admit that we idolized a guy who can't get past Kurt Warner to start for a team that was awful to mediocre until recently.
Sports radio personalities on 570 KLAC wrote and sing the parody. It's point, says Petros Papadakis, one of the duo responsible for the song, is to implore Leinart to buckle down, ditch the lame celebrity friends and swap the beer bong for reps in the gym.
Why does he care? Petros is a former USC player who only wishes he had been given the opportunity to go to the NFL.
Like many here in So Cal, we wonder how "Matty" as the song calls him could have gone from a national championship to holding a clipboard.
Oh, well. Leinart's time may be coming if Warner doesn't get what he wants from the Cards. But unless Leinart can resurrect the talent he once possessed, there are a lot of other solid veterans that Ken Whisenhunt can substitute for Kurt if he sails off into the sunset.
