When was the last time there was an Internet video starring a big time athlete that wasn't something self aggrandizing, private, awful or just plain stupid? Meet Shan Foster, former SEC basketball player of the year and newly minted member of the Dallas Mavericks of the NBA.

He has vaulted himself up the line from a virtually obscure second round pick, taken #51 overall, into a guy whose name you know if you don't live in Dallas or root for the Mavericks. It's the video stupid!
 

If you listen, you'll think it's goofy or disingenuous; after all, what else are our choices? How could anyone want to appear like the dorky kid in the school play as portrayed in the film About A Boy?

He really is a nice kid who truly believes he has been blessed with a chance to play at the pro level with guys who have been to the mountain top like J Kidd and Dirk. I'll bet he's a Mark Cuban fan too.
 

Just based on what I've heard him say in his interviews I believe he's the real deal. I hope he makes the team. If he does he'll have more money to buy better stuff for his room, at least I hope so. In the meantime, listen to "I Can't Wait to Play in the NBA".
