I noticed that environmentalism has become an officially recognized religion in the UK, as of November 4. Now I realize that many people have a religious fervor in that regard, but the church of the environment? I started considering what that could do in the workplace.
How do you discuss emission controls at a meeting? If the company wastes water, are they insulting my religion? Can I go to court under discrimination laws? What if someone spills water near me?
What if the company decides to have an environmental fa ire – have they recognized one religion to the detriment of another? Can I, as a Wiccan, sue?
I think I will sue the bus company to remove all those environmental posters from taxpayer property. Or maybe the PUD – telling me to conserve is contrary to my religion.
This is obviously silly. I'm sure the UK will reconsider – or will they?
