We all know what happened when the Matthew Williamson for H&M Collection dropped into H&M stores April 23, 2009. Pure fashion madness and mayhem and I was there first hand to experience it all. As we all know, the Jimmy Choo for H&M collection drop date of November 14th is just around the corner and I thought it be good to go over some of those how to shop rules again.
H&M must have took my cue from the last designer installment as they have also updated rules for the event. One becuase you know that with this collection, having the addition of incredible Jimmy Choo shoes and handbags, there is much potential for pushing, shoving, hair pulling and possible bloodshed. So in liu of that, H&M has created their own guidelines and rules of the day. Plus I’ll give you a couple of my own.
H&M Guidelines:
#1 - It’s going to be busy. Get there early. The first 160 customers will get wrist bands with a specific shopping time. Everyone else will have to wait their turn in the line.
#2 - You can only shop the shoes, accessories and handbags in your designated time, and ONLY if you have a wrist band. After 2 hours, the shoes, accessories and handbag designated areas will be opened up for the masses. (Aka: the 161st person and after)
#3 - You do not need a bracelet to shop the women's and men’s clothing collections.
#4 - You cannot purchase two of the same item. Only one per item per customer.
Laurie B Style Guidelines:
#1 - Wear leggings and flip flops so you can try your shoe’s and clothes on quicker. Time is of the essence at these events. If you are stuck in jeans that may make things difficult if you want to try on the over the knee boot.
#2 - When shopping for the clothing, the clothes will go fast and even though you can only purchase one of each piece that is not going to stop people from grabbing more than one piece. (Its for bartering leverage once the racks have been pulled clean). So remember, if you are small grab from the front of the rack, medium from the middle and Large from the back. H&M sizing is funky so mediums start at size 8.
#3 - Be kind to you fellow shopper. Everyone wants a piece of something and you will be amazed the good karma that will come back to you (even in the store) when you give up something you love to somebody else dying for it.
#4 - You have 3 LA area options: the Beverly Center, Sunset Blvd and South Coast Plaza, so find that Coffee bean and Starbucks ahead of time and ask for a double shot!
I sadly may or may not be there, but If I am, I promise to give a follow up scoop on the scene and hopefully some lovely Jimmy Choo that has made it back into my closet. From your Editor in Chic... I’ll see you on the streets!
