Zoe's Kitchen offers dolled-up comfort food in a casual setting. It's a decent place to grab a quick bite for lunch. And when you get a sandwich, a side, and a bag of chips for $6.75, it's not a bad price.
Unfortunately, their menu is mostly non-vegetarian, with a few exceptions. The egg salad is pretty basic, nothing too jazzed up there. The grilled feta sandwich sounds great on the menu (feta, carmelized onions, tomato and basil) but the feta overpowers the rest of the ingredients. The pimento cheese sandwich is interesting - pimento cheese infused with Tabasco sauce, grilled with tomato and lettuce - but again, the cheese is a bit overpowering. There's also a - surprise - grilled cheese sandwich, with the option of American, Swiss or cheddar.
The sides aren't bad; the pasta salad with basil, tomato and feta is a nice twist from the usual deli-style pasta salad, and the potato salad is low on sauce and high on chunks of fresh potato. Other options include coleslaw, rice pilaf (non-vegetarian) and fresh fruit.
While many of their menu options are creative, the vegetarian options are few and all involve a lot of cheese. That's fine for me most days, but sometimes I'm craving a bit more veggies than are found here. Still, not bad for a quick bite.
