My bag of kopi luwak. maybe I should sell it on ebay?

It's Weird Food Wednesday again, and here's another weird item: Kopi Luwak.

Kopi Luwak starts life as the inner bean of raw red coffee berries, consumed by the Asian palm civet and defecated. The beans are then washed, lightly roasted and sold as Kope Luwak, the world’s most expensive coffee, selling for between $120 and $600 a pound.

Kopi, in bahasa Indonesia, the official language of the Indonesian archipelago, means coffee, and luwak is the name for the civet (a kind of wild cat) native to the islands.

Jack Nicholson drank this coffee in the movie The Bucket List, where two guys made a list of things they wanted to do before they died, and apparently drinking this coffee was one of them!  It sells for $120 to $600 a pound and you can buy it on the Web here.

It occurs to me that we've covered urine and feces in our weird foods. Next Wednesday I'll try to find something a little more palatable to spotlight.

I’ve tried kopi luwak and have to admit to being rather underwhelmed. I’ve tasted better.
