A report on channelnewsasia.com speculates that actor Takeshi Kaneshiro, who is one of the biggest movie stars in Asia, could soon be following in the footsteps of crossover Asian stars Rain, Jay Chou and Lee Byung-hun and heading to Hollywood.
The website stated that the 33-year-old actor was "recently spotted by fans in Los Angeles, fuelling speculation that the Taiwan-based actor is in talks to star in a Hollywood film."
According to the news story, Kaneshiro's agency confirmed that the actor is indeed in Los Angeles, but said he was actually there on vacation to visit friends.
In 1998, Kaneshiro starred in "Too Tired To Die" with Oscar-winning actress Mira Sorvino but has since avoided Hollywood film offers, and even turned down a role in "The Last Samurai" starring Tom Cruise.
In recent years, he caught Hollywood's attention with a starring role in 2004's "House of Flying Daggers" alongside Chinese actress Zhang Ziyi and can be seen Hong Kong director John Woo's latest war epic "Red Cliff".
Channelnewsasia.com also reported that although Kaneshiro's agency acknowledged that the star has received several Hollywood offers, he has not signed on to any projects, yet.
