Good lord, are these things good. Seriously.
I remember trying some of Morningstar's riblets in the past but they must have improved the recipe because this stuff is absolutely delicious. And it says "New!" on the package.
The bbq sauce is incredible and doesn't harden up when you cook it in the microwave, like the old one used to. The riblets themselves are made from soy protein and wheat protein - they are vegan and kosher. One serving of riblets is equal to 2 very lean meats and 2 carbohydrates, so it's a great way to get more protein (which can be a vegetarian dilemma). One riblet will run you 220 calories, 30 from fat, with 18 grams of protein!
Morningstar's website has a lot of helpful information, if you're interested in knowing things like allergen information, recipes, or preparation instructions. All you really have to do is cut a slit in the plastic they're packaged in and cook them in the microwave. I like to eat them straight up but I've seen some good recipes using them in wraps or with mango-pineapple salsa. Yum!
Of course, if you're NOT vegetarian and you're thinking about trying these I don't want to disillusion you - they taste fantastic but they probably don't taste exactly like meat riblets. If you've read my article/rant about meat-eaters' interpretations of veggie bacon, you know what I'm talking about. But the texture of the riblets and the bbq sauce are wonderful and a treat for anyone. The price isn't bad either: one box will probably run you around $4-$5.
