I've had a love affair with your book, Baking: From My Home To Yours for over a year now. I look through your cookbook, drooling over the glossy pictures, lusting over butter-laden desserts I shouldn't eat. Why did you have to tempt me so?

Dorie Greenspan
My Dear Dorie, I know you coauthored cookbooks with Julia Child and Pierre Hermé. I realize your cookbook is a best seller. I understand you have a cult following. You've worked hard for it. You deserve all the praise. You're good, what can I say? I take your book to bed with me at night, and devour it front to back as if I'm reading the newest bestselling novel from John Grisham. I read the recipes, pet the delicious photos and tell them, "I have a date with you tomorrow". I can't put your book down! My husband has gotten jealous, and pleads with me to leave the book in the kitchen. Ahhhh Dorie, what have you done to me?

Tuesdays With Dorie

I started with the baking group, Tuesdays With Dorie just about a year ago. I thought it would be a good excuse, and therapy, to do something creative, just for me. Little did I know, they would have ruined my life like you have. Each and every week, over 300 members all over the world bake the very same recipe...on Tuesday. Hence the name, Tuesdays With Dorie! We all bake the same weekly recipe, take provacative photos of Chocolate Cherry Fudge Brownies, Fresh Fruit Galette or Mixed Berry Cobbler. Then we all post about it on our individual blogs...on Tuesday...every week. Did I say Tuesdays? Can you imagine how many calories that adds up to?

Baking: From My Home To Yours
Sweet Dorie Greenspan, your 528 page book has quite a cult following. As you've seen above, the group Tuesdays With Dorie worships you. Your book, Baking: From My Home To Yours, with over 230 decadent recipes is just too much. You're bad for me, and good, all at the same time. It's almost as bad as looking at Food Porn at all hours of the night with all its fattening photography! Tons of butter, heavy cream and gourmet chocolate. Sometimes, I just have to say NO, and hide the HUGE book. Heck, the book is so oversized it has to have a shelf of its own! Stop, please stop already! I can't take any more!

My Dearest Dorie, I love you, I always will. But, you see, my hubby wants me to end the affair with you and your fattening book. He says, "It's me or the cookbook!" I guess I'll have to sneak around and hide you from now on. I'll put you on another shelf, in another room, where no one can see. I'll wait for hubby to go to work. Then, and only then, can I open your book, pet your pictures, and bake yet another Devils Food White Out Cake. Thing is, can I eat it all before he gets home?

With All My Love,

Donna Diegel, Providence Food Examiner, obsessed foodie, hopeless dessert addict............
