Father's Day - my homemade waffles and smiles. Good times.

The art of cooking plays all five senses: touch, sight, sound, smell and TASTE.

What other endeavor can entreat all to such experiences? Cooking excites the faculties I possess and there is always something to challenge my mind and hands.

I am neither artistic nor scientific but somehow cooking works for me and a myriad of others across America.  Why?

I was asked this weekend how I got into cooking by my husband's grandmother.  The belief in eating a home-cooked meal around the table was clearly established by my mother, who unfortunately succumbed to ovarian cancer when I was 18.  I would certainly have carried this over earlier but cooking at home was not a big deal until the birth of our first daughter - well, now we had to stay home, what shall I do?

Cooking is a hobby I can share with EVERYONE.  I have never come across someone who discussed preparing meals at home is a waste of time.  So, I figure, why not share my art and passion in a way that provides my family with nutrition and a reason to come together daily?

Gather people and good food together and you've created one of the greatest joys in life - better yet if it comes from your two hands and one heart.
