How much would you pay for a four-course tasting dinner at Philadelphia's tony Le Bec-Fin? Now you can set your own tab, via the restaurant's surprising new "Pay What You Wish" special.
The deal is available at 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday during the month of July for those who sit at the chef's table, which is restricted to 20 patrons.
The chef will prepare a four-course dinner (appetizer, fish, meat and dessert) tailored to your likes and dislikes. When dinner is over, you receive a check with blanks for food and tip –– and the rest is up to you. To make the offer even more attractive, you also can bring your own wine.
This special is the latest in a string of offers presumably to drive more business during the economic doldrums and to appeal to diners who might think Le Bec-Fin is way out of their price range.
Among the cheapest eats there are a daily happy hour at the downstairs Le Bar Lyonnais with $5 food and drink specials, as well as free hors d'ouevre; a $15.23 lunch deal, and a three-course dinner for $35.
